NillWhat a delight! Beautiful hotel with many amenities. The weekend we stayed they had a private event in the members lounge. The hotel more than made up for it with food vouchers for breakfast. It made for an absolute delightful and delicious bonus. We used the free bikes to head up to Balboa Park (a bit uphill on the way there but worth it) then headed down to the ferry and rode around Coronado Island. Such a great perk. Location is in the Columbia District and we walked the neighborhood and felt very safe. The hotel is very close to Sante Fe Station where you can catch the Trolley. The rooms are beautiful. We did have a corner suite which was worth the upgrade. We will be back. So much fun.

NillI had a disappointing experience here, especially with their valet service and lack of accountability. The valet staff left my car running overnight, completely draining the battery, and never informed us—we only found out after waiting and asking. When we inquired about what happened so we could assess any potential damage, the valet manager was rude and dismissive, claiming he didn’t know, then casually mentioning they had to jump-start it. The hotel manager wasn’t helpful either, simply apologizing but saying it was up to the valet manager whether we’d still be charged for parking. I assumed it was obvious we shouldn’t be, but they still did, despite the damage they caused. On top of that, we had to replace the battery. After reading other reviews, I saw similar complaints, including reports of cars being broken into overnight with no responsibility taken by the hotel. For $65 per night, I expected much better service and accountability.

★★★★★Dear hotel Republic manager and staff.|Thank you for making our mother daughter birthday trip a memorable and successful celebration. We first met Jeff, he took our luggage and escorted us to our room. Jeff provided helpful information about the hotel and places to visit in San Diego. Everyday, Marco served all of our food and drinks, making our experience fantastic. Hunter came to our room on two days to bring a new remote for the tv and repair an over active air conditioner. We completely enjoyed our experience at Hotel Republic in San Diego CA. We will come back. I highly recommend Hotel Republic for your next stay in San Diego.

NillI've stayed here many times, but this most recent experience was probably the best. Centrally located, easily walkable to anything in the downtown core. I chose to upgrade to an executive corner room during what was likely a slow weekend before Thanksgiving. The room was spotless and an unexpected fruit and dessert plate was waiting for me upon my arrival. Staff was gracious and attentive. I am an elite with Marriott, but not a top level. Lovely. Special shout out to the staff at Trade on the lobby level. Breakfast service was great. Chris at the bar during the evening was not only a great bartender, but also someone you'd be fortunate to get to know a bit. The hotel has changed ownership and for the better. They are definitely my go-to in San Diego. Thank you lovely people!~

★★★★★First time visiting San Diego and decided to stay at Hotel Republic. First interaction was with the amazing valet staff. I wish I wrote down his name but a young blonde guy helped me and my son with getting our rental parked and held the door. VERY friendly and helpful. I wish I knew all the names of the valet staff to individually thank them all but the 3 names I was able to write down were Julian, Angel, & Christopher. They were amazing. Walking into the hotel you are greeted with a wonderful scent and beautiful style. The front end staff (which again I wish I had names!!-we checked in on 10/25 around 3:00 PM, if hotel management can track them down and give them my shout out LOL). The young man and woman who helped get my son and I checked in were so friendly. I loved the interaction because my son and the woman. They made us feel very welcomed. Location of the hotel was perfect-only a few minutes from the airport.|Our room was clean and cozy! We had a city view on the 12th floor. I plan on coming back to San Diego and no question we will be staying at Hotel Republic! Thank you again!!

NillSpent a night at this downtown SD spot. A good hotel with some strengths and areas that could use improvement. The breakdown: * Good central location, close to many attractions * Room was clean but dated - worn armchair and scuffed furniture need an update * Bed was comfortable and bathroom lighting was good * Staff was friendly and responsive. When we mentioned noise problems, front desk got us into a different room (note that you'll be moving your own bags) * Valet service worked well, but $60/night for parking is high * Breakfast needs work - 30-minute wait had us walking out to find a nearby cafe * Minor note: a sauna was mentioned in the hotel pamphlet, but we couldn't find it anywhere in the building * Bathroom could use more towels The helpful staff and central location make up for most shortcomings. They should address the breakfast situation and update some of the room furnishings. A decent choice for downtown SD - just plan breakfast elsewhere.

NillThis review is a little delayed but worth writing. We spent a few days here over Labor Day weekend and had a fabulous time--thank you team! Great location and walking distance to everything. The staff was top notch and the cocktails and food were excellent! Special shout outs to the following staff for making our stay pleasurable and top notch: CARLOS (bartender) - great conversation, excellent cocktails, and very efficient. JEFF (manager) - friendly and did what he could to make our stay comfortable OLGA (front desk) - friendly and welcoming RONNEISHA (Club Lounge) - friendly, hustled, and made sure that there was plenty of food. =) VALET DEPARTMENT - kudos to all! Our car was always ready when we needed it (didn't' have to wait) and was greeted with many smiles throughout our trip. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ONLY DRAWBACK: The only drawback was the random heatwave that San Diego was experiencing. The fitness facility and rooms were a little warm but it was nearly 100 degrees during this fluke heatwave.
