SpringHill Suites San Diego Downtown/Bayfront

We stayed in this hotel for one night prior to leaving on a Christmas cruise. It is right across the street from the port and you can take a very quick walk to the port to get on your cruise ship. The convenience can't be beat! It's a beautiful hotel. We spent the evening prior to our cruise walking on the waterfront. We felt very safe and it was gorgeous. The free breakfast was quite good!

The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. Let's talk about the good things about this hotel first. The sanitation of the room and corridor is good, the taste of the breakfast is also OK, and the location of the hotel is good. The USS Midway aircraft carrier is not far from the window. But for some reason, there is always a harsh and annoying sound outside the window. At first, we thought it was the sound of some electrical appliances. After a while, we realized that it might be due to the design of the building itself. The noise caused by the wind outside the high-rise window. This continuous noise seriously affected our rest. Another thing we are not satisfied with is the design and layout of the room. We live in a corner king-size bed room. The room area is very small. The sofa and TV are placed not far from the entrance of the room. The air conditioner is facing the sofa, and the cold wind blows directly at people. The design is very unreasonable. The bathroom is large, but the strange thing is that the washbasin is designed to be very narrow and the shower area is not large enough. It is almost difficult for tall guests to move and turn around in it. In addition, the frosted large glass window in the bathroom is too transparent, and a movable curtain should be installed to block the light. The last thing that made us unhappy with this hotel was that they charged $12 per package for storage. This is unheard of and simply incomprehensible.

This was a very nice hotel in a great location. The 5th floor bar has amazing waterfront views. Overall the hotel is in good condition and the staff was very nice.||The location provides good access to the Italian and Gaslamp districts. You can easily walk with luggage to the cruise ship docks.

I've stayed at this property twice now and can say with confidence that this is the best Springhill Suites you'll find anywhere. Service is on par with any 5 star hotel. Kenneth at the front desk was a rock star. Managed to accommodate all my needs/desires and had me checked in in no time.

Front desk staff were professional. Rooms were extremely clean and large. Sliding doors connect the restroom with the rest of the suite. Nice touch. The free breakfast was better than expected. Excellent choices including egg whites and fresh fruit. The hotel is next to the San Diegos ports...several cruise ships going in an out. Scenic as well.

Never consider that as a normal quality hotel. The valley were not there, always have to look for valley service, Free breakfast was awful , elevators are not enough , the small low quality coffee maker in the room was broken and all the noise of the next room in the toilet has been heard in the room. The only positive point is the view of the building which is lake view for the rooms facing the lake .

Excellent hotel with great parking and awesome views. Front desk person Josiah S. is extremely friendly. Excellent and Wow customer service provided by Josiah went above and beyond his hospitality. Great ambience and rooms are very spacious. Excellent complimentary breakfast and world class service.

+ Perfect location in the heart of San Diego. The room was fine with a very comfortable bed and was relatively clean (some dust here and there). Breakfast is pretty good, tasty and every day something new. Great rooftop bar with good food and nice views. Staff is friendly.||||- Throughout our 3 night stay they didn't clean our room even once. At some point we had to ask 3 times to get our room cleaned (through the phone and directly at the front desk) until the lady showed up late in the afternoon so we just asked to get our towels replaced and overflowing trash taken out, as we were preparing to go out. The windows are not soundproof so you can hear everything happening outside. You need to create an account to access wifi and the signal is spotty. There is no amenities in the bathroom besides a few tissues and a tiny soap bar. On a minor note, we let the hotel know it's our wedding anniversary but, unlike in other hotels we stayed at during this time, didn't get acknowledged. A simple "happy anniversary" on the TV screen or a note card would be a nice touch if you're cutting corners, that doesn't cost anything.||||Overall it was an okay stay (especially due to the location) but for this price one would expect better service. It rather feels like a budget hotel than 4 stars standard.
