The AC/Heater blows right down on the outside person on bed, caught a slight cold ? I simple microwave on top of the small fridge… Parking was NOT Fun it kept me up mentally so I can feed the meter and Not get a ticket ? Otherwise beautiful facility and very nice hosts at the front !!! Had a great time !!!

NillNot bad for the price! Went to two Padres games this weekend and wanted something cheap and close to the stadium - got both of these wishes with this stay! I would caution that you should probably be a decent sleeper if you choose to stay here. As mentioned in other reviews, the room is on the first floor and faces the street on a somewhat… up and coming area? Could hear homeless people on one night, but they provide a white noise machine that does pretty well. I also used the A/C on a sleep timer to cool down and block more noise and honestly had no trouble sleeping. Felt safe while sleeping with an access code required to get in the building, and another to get in the room. Nice people at the desk, room was small but clean. Love San Diego can’t wait to come back :)

NillHad a great stay at Sonder, was in SD for a concert at Petco park and it was a great location within walking distance. The building and rooms were secure entry and clean. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and attentive, they gave advice for parking and there was a coffee bar in the front. Could definitely hear street noise on the main level outside our room, but it wasn’t super loud on the nights we stayed. Overall, very reasonably priced would recommend to others!

NillI was a little wary checking in at night, but this place ended up being a 100/10 for me. Room was small but wonderful. The bed was soft and clean, the pillows were fluffy, the shower had the best pressure and temperature control, and I liked the provided lotion, conditioner, body soap, etc. There was also a mini fridge in the room and a microwave downstairs, also a coffee machine with hot water for tea. 500 points for the decor and design, which was awesome! Plus there was rooftop access to lounge and relax in the sun. It was affordable and right next to the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego. Very pleased! Only leaving a review because I saw some low ratings. I don’t know if they revamped this place or what, but 5 stars from me.

★★★★People noting that the location is ridiculously loud are being real, the walls are paper thin, but I was able to sleep with my noise canceling headphones just fine. It’s really not the hotel’s fault that the city is experiencing a homelessness crisis, so if that reality bugs you then maybe book something less urban or don’t hang around downtown at all. Its everywhere. The extended queen suite was perfect for me and my partner and I really appreciated not having to interact with a human to check in. I guess my only complaint is that the bed was a bit too firm and the shower drained super slow, which was concerning.

NillThis is largely unstaffed but you are given contact details if you need anything. Our room was spacious but only due to being accessible. We were ground floor (103) and facing onto the road. Ear plugs and white noise machine was provided but it was still noisy. Blackout and better fitting blinds would help with the light at night. Room was clean. Extra towels and toiletries were available at reception area for self serve. Free tea and coffee was available as was cold, filtered water. There was a hanging rail but no shelves or storage. Roof terrace was nice.

NillSeeing all these poor reviews and wondering if I was staying at a totally different venue? Generally feel like I had good value for money, nice room, very comfy bed, some noise but you're staying downtown??? I feel that's an accepted variable and unless you're expecting noise cancelling quality from a city, you might need to think harder about your expectations. The area is a great walkable distance. Again it being a city there are unhoused and drug users but it's a city, again surely a variable in a trip in 2024. If I come back to SD I'll definitely give it a look, but I have nothing planned currently. But will definitely look specifically for Sonder properties on my next trip!

NillPros: Located downtown, walking distance to shops, dining, public transport, etc. Very attractively decorated (however style supersedes functionality to a fault). The decorating/design is top notch. Visually gorgeous. Rooftop patio is cute. Didn’t use the grill. Cute lobby/lounge area. Small fridge in room. As-needed extra towels and toiletries in the lobby. Hassle free check-in. Clean (other than the shower floor … ) Cons: Parking almost non-existent unless you are lucky enough to get one of the extremely limited spots on the street out front, otherwise unsecured parking lots are a couple blocks away for $25/day. Construction in the area prevented us using the closer parking lot (not Sonder and Baker’s fault) No elevator, and no help from the front desk, so be ready to carry whatever you’ve packed up a flight of stairs if you’re on the second floor. Watch your head! Uncomfortable squeaky and sinky beds. Lack of surfaces on which to set things (we ended up using the second sink as the vanity, as there is no counter in the bathroom for toiletries.) the foldout desk on the wall wasn’t sturdy enough to support much of anything so we just put bags on the floor. No biggie, just not ideal. NOISY. Noisy noisy noisy. I love city noises, cars driving past, people talking, but this is a different level. The night time crowd outside isn’t Sonder the Baker’s responsibility, but when I say it will keep you awake I am not exaggerating. We actually had to call 911 one night because there was a woman having a psychotic episode out on the sidewalk across the street. I heard screaming, verbal fights, motorcyclists gunning their engines, all night long. The provided ear plugs and white noise machine at least show they’re aware of and trying to alleviate this issue but they really should replace the windows and add sound proofing. And please fix that slamming front door. Ugh. 😖 Shower floor needs a serious scrub. Gross. 🤢 Aircon unit is failing and is so loud. Moisture from the bathroom permeates the entire room. When we would return from our day out exploring San Diego, the entire room smelled like wet towels and mildewy shower floor. Extremely Unpleasant. Final thoughts: I feel like this place photographs well, but staying in it is NOT what one expects from the gorgeous photos. Perhaps it’s geared more toward a single overnight or weekend visitor. We stayed for about 4 nights but almost left after the first one. There are much nicer hotels in the area for a slightly higher price. Opt for the higher price establishments in the area.
