Had a great work stay here recently. Very cool history of the hotel. Oldest hotel in San Diego and remodeled. Very relaxing. Beds super comfy. Nice bathrooms. Very spacious and I found the staff to be very friendly. They also have great valet and easy car pick up. The gym was very narrow shot fun style, but very nice. Overall had a great experience here and would recommend. There was easy access to running on the boardwalk and the bathroom products were Byredo. Overall I recommend for a mix of comfort, relaxation and history. I also think it is cool this place is owned and operated still by Native American tribe.

The most beautiful place I've stayed! Excellent service and attention to detail. I stayed for 4 nights. Valet parking is $65/night but worth it for safety and convenience. The lobby is charming with complimentary juice, beautiful furnishings and a pianist. The bar has nice cocktails and small bites. The restaurant requires reservations and I wasn't able to get in during my stay. I would absolutely stay again! Love love love!

I had the pleasure of staying at the US Grant Hotel, and it was a truly memorable experience! From the moment we walked in, the beautiful and historic lobby took our breath away—stunning decor that exudes elegance and charm. The room was equally impressive, with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The food at the hotel was also outstanding. A special shout-out to Hayley at check-in, who was absolutely wonderful. She was warm, helpful, and made the start of our stay seamless and welcoming. We did encounter a minor hiccup in the lounge, where the server initially didn’t allow us to pay a cake-cutting fee and asked us to move to the lobby. While it was frustrating at first, the issue was quickly resolved thanks to the professionalism of the front desk and restaurant manager. They ensured we could pay the fee and enjoy our celebration properly. Overall, the US Grant Hotel is a fantastic place to stay. While there was a small bump during our visit, the staff’s responsiveness and the exceptional service we received elsewhere more than made up for it. Highly recommended for a luxurious and accommodating stay in San Diego!

It is a delightful hotel. The lobby is wonderful. The meeting room downstairs quite nice. The restaurant food is good and service is excellent. My only complaint is how small the room was. One side of the bed was so close to the wall that you couldn't comfortably get off the bed on that side. For the price paid, I would have expected much better space. At the same time, the place is quite old and perhaps it was impossible to enlarge rooms during the renovation.

A jewel of the San Diego Fine Hotels! The service is incredible. Professional, kind and attentive. The rooms are perfect. Grand and with finest of accommodations. Make sure you walk around the hotel to take in and enjoy the history. The location is ideal.

Our weekend getaway was here at the hotel, i chose this place for its historic luxury and their known elegant architecture and being downtown location was so convenient for sightseeing. Front desk was so helpful and friendly, rooms were cute and clean. We had a great time, with we did room service but there was so much food I booked marked for our trip this time. Recommend this place for a nice weekend getaway. At night if you happen to be driving around, the hotel lights up to be soooo beautiful, 360 view of rainbow 🌈

This stay fell far below the standard I’ve come to expect from this property. On my previous visits, I received a complimentary upgrade as part of my AMEX stay benefits, but this time, I was asked to pay $250 for the same upgrade. Additionally, I specifically requested my breakfast as a to-go order and picked up from the Grant Grill to avoid room service charges, yet these charges were still added to my bill. To make matters worse, my to-go breakfast didn’t include utensils or napkins, and they forgot the maple syrup for my pancakes. When I spoke to the front desk about the charges, the staff insisted the charges were correct based on their policy. I didn’t want to argue further, so I just paid the fee—it wasn’t worth my time. Another disappointing change is the use of communal shower gels and shampoos. While I appreciate the environmental effort, I find it unhygienic and concerning, as there's no way to ensure they haven’t been tampered with by previous guests. This was my third stay here, and unfortunately, it was by far the worst. The exceptional service I experienced during my earlier visits is what brought me back, but given this experience, I’ll be exploring other 5-star options in the same price range moving forward.

A Timeless Gem in the Heart of San Diego If you’re looking for a hotel that seamlessly blends history, elegance, and comfort, look no further. This beautifully preserved historic property offers all the modern amenities you’d expect while maintaining its classic charm. The team here takes immense pride in the hotel, and it shows in every detail—from the warm hospitality to the impeccable upkeep. Location: Perfectly situated in the heart of San Diego, this hotel makes it easy to explore the city on foot. Whether you’re here for work or leisure, you’ll find yourself just steps away from great dining, shopping, and cultural attractions. Parking: Valet parking is the only option, but the service is excellent—always friendly and efficient. I opted for Uber to and from the airport, which was incredibly convenient. Check-in: I arrived late at night and was greeted with a warm smile. The front desk team made me feel immediately welcome, providing a quick yet thorough overview of the amenities. This was my second stay at the hotel (my first was pre-COVID), and I was happy to find that the service remains top-notch. Room: Thanks to my Marriott status, I was upgraded to a lovely corner suite. The room was spotless, featuring high-quality linens, luxurious bath products, and thoughtful touches like a mini fridge, slippers, robes, and a turndown service that felt extra special. Since this hotel is over 100 years old, each room has its own unique charm. Mine, located on the 11th floor, was incredibly quiet. While there are minor signs of wear due to the building’s age, housekeeping does an exceptional job maintaining cleanliness and comfort. Amenities: While there’s no pool, the well-equipped fitness center is a great alternative for staying active during your stay. Food & Beverage: The hotel features an onsite restaurant and room service. Though I didn’t have the chance to dine in, the restaurant was always buzzing with guests—a promising sign! Would I Stay Again? Absolutely! Whether you’re visiting for business or a getaway, this hotel offers an exceptional experience. I look forward to returning on my next trip to San Diego.
