Carte Hotel San Diego Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton

Carte is located on the edge of Little Italy. Staff is exceptional. Check-in was flawless, efficient and quick. The hotel's policies were thoroughly explained and all questions answered. Rooms are very well laid out with comfortable beds and lots of outlets. Property is very clean and well maintained. Watercolors restaurant is very good and we had breakfast there daily. Zac is an outstanding server. The only issue and what kept me from giving 5 stars is the problems encountered with the hotel's bill processing system screwing up the daily food and beverage credits several times. Check your folio closely! This was corrected by Sarai at the front desk so a big shout out goes to her for her efforts in assisting us. This is an outstanding hotel with top notch staff.

We booked to stay here 4 nights, My friend and I loved the rooftop bar. The happy hour and staff are amazing. Above ash social was excellent, such a warm welcome. We went on the first night and went every night. The barman Geoff was great, talkative, all the staff working when we were their helped and advised us on what to do in San Diego. The rooms we had were lovely and clean. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel is in a great location. If your not staying at the hotel and want a nice roof top bar go to the above ash social.

Our stay at the Carte Hotel in San Diego was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and impeccable service. My partner and I had a great stay at the Carte Hotel! The rooms are very clean, spacious, and equipped with everything you need—a large TV, fridge, coffee machine, and a lovely, well-kept bathroom with a large shower. It made for a very comfortable stay. We did have a couple of issues with room service, as our orders were incorrect both times we ordered. However, the staff were quick to resolve these mistakes and were very accommodating, which we appreciated. The reception staff were delightful and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and offers plenty of amenities, including a gym and a pool, which were great additions. Having a restaurant and bar in the hotel was super convenient, with options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner right downstairs. Overall, we had a pleasant experience, and we'd recommend Carte Hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable stay in downtown San Diego!

We are local to San Diego but we decided to have a spontaneous staycation to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The hotel team acknowledged our special occasion in such a beautiful way! We had wonderful time enjoying hotel restaurants, rooftop area and state of the art fitness center with sauna and steam room. Thank you for consistent high class customer service, cleanliness and good food options. Kudos to the hotel management for keeping the team happy what shows in the service they provide. We’ll be back!

Our baecation was exceptional thanks to the Carte staff and security. The room was well kept and overlooked the pool area. Music was lively and the staff was very professional. It is an absolutely beautiful hotel and I will definitely book again!

Rooms are spacious, clean and modern. I enjoyed the large shower area. If you are a person who enjoys fitness...this is the hotel for you. The fitness area, because that is what it is, it's not just a room, but an entire gym, is state of the art. In fact, this is an actual gym that happens to be located where the hotel is, so hotel patrons get to enjoy using the gym while they stay here. Top of the line equipment and classes are all available here. Service was excellent, from the online chat to the barista, everyone was happy to serve you. Location is perfect, you can walk around the area to get to many places and use the transit system if you want. I did not have a car, so I cannot comment on parking.

I upgraded my room on Hilton’s app to a 14th floor corner room to take advantage of the view. I was disappointed when my room was changed to the 9th floor. I paid extra for the upgrade, and wasn’t offered any explanation for the change when I inquired about it.||The remote control for the blackout curtains didn’t work. I was flooded with sunlight early in the morning, and unable to sleep in on New Year’s day. This was hardly a restful night of sleep.||I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff and asked that the room upgrade charge be refunded. I thought this was a reasonable remedy to the problem. I was told there wasn’t an upgrade charge and was offered an insincere apology for the poor night of sleep. I was also given an empty promise that the problem with the remote and curtains would be looked into. ||I left unhappy, so I compared the room rate on the invoice to the confirmation email, and I was actually charged more. I texted the hotel to again request a refund. After receiving no response or acknowledgement from the staff or manager, I went back to discuss the problem. I was initially told that I needed to contact Hilton’s customer service line to request the refund, but another front desk agent stepped in and informed me she processed the refund. I thanked her and pointed out that I wasn’t happy about the lack of response and complete lack of effort to address the issue at the start, but that I was now happy she fixed the issue. She responded with an unprofessional attitude and treated me like it wasn’t her job to address issues raised by guests. ||This hotel needs to train its front desk staff on how to handle guest complaints appropriately and professionally. You should never let a guest leave unhappy, and certainly should never make a guest feel like he is an inconvenience for raising a concern. You should also never tell a guest you are too busy or that you will not apologize for being rude. This is hardly what one can expect from someone working in the hospitality industry. ||I will never stay at this hotel again. With numerous competitors in San Diego, I would also never recommend the Carte to anyone looking to book a stay in San Diego.
