Paid nearly $2,400 (incl. resort fee) for two nights in a 1-bedroom suite and definitely expected a much better experience. Location is great and the view from my room was beautiful. The room had a number of deferred maintenance items (badly cracked walls, stained furniture) that I wouldn’t expect at this hotel’s age and price point. The TV interface is terrible. Just a channel listing, no program guide. No ability to cast from your own device. Technology is way behind here. Water pressure is pretty bad, especially in the sinks. Requested an additional 30-45 minutes to check out which was declined. (Housekeeper on the floor told me on my way out that she saves the “big suites at the end” - which I was in - for last anyway!) Overall, a very average but very expensive stay. Value isn’t there for me based on this stay.

Our favorite hotel for a quick getaway. The staff is wonderful and the views of the bay are amazing. Our rewards status is always recognized and we were nicely upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. A selection of snacks were waiting for us in the room and bottled still & sparkling water were delivered shortly after we arrived. We had lunch a few floors up at Seneca, a beautiful Italian rooftop restaurant. We stayed in for dinner and ordered room service. Delivery was prompt and the food was delicious. Had a great nights sleep in the most comfortable bed. A brunch buffet is offered on the weekend with typical breakfast foods, quiche, eggs Benedict, shrimp, pastries & fruit. Delicious. The club lounge also serves breakfast but we prefer the restaurant. There are also fresh baked cookies, chips, & candy available to snack on in the lounge along with an assortment of drinks & alcohol. A Starbucks is also located outside on the ground floor for coffe & treats. We will continue to return to this hotel and can highly recommend it for a stay in San Diego.

The InterContinental San Diego is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to enjoy the best of the city. Situated right on the waterfront, the hotel offers breathtaking views of San Diego Bay, especially from the higher floors. Waking up to the sight of sailboats gliding across the water and the skyline reflecting off the bay was an unforgettable experience. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and Little Italy, making it easy to explore the city’s best attractions. Whether you’re in town for business or leisure, the convenience of being near top restaurants, shopping, and entertainment is a huge plus. The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-appointed, with floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize the stunning scenery. The service was top-notch, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Dining at the on-site restaurants was also a highlight, offering delicious options with an unbeatable view. Overall, if you’re looking for a luxurious stay in San Diego with an incredible location and panoramic waterfront views, the InterContinental is a perfect choice!

My wife and I generally stay at hotels a bit closer to the GasLamp district but decided to give the waterfront area a try and we were very happy we did. We enjoyed walking along the bayfront including the Portside Pier and Seaport Village areas. The walk to the Gaslamp area was fine as we enjoy wandering the city. The hotel itself is very nice – clean, modern and bright. The staff from the front desk to the parking valet are all very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed afternoon refreshments at the lobby bar and found the bartenders to also be very friendly and helpful. Our room had a great view of the waterfront and USS Midway. The room was clean and comfortable with a huge walk in shower. We would very happily stay here again and recommend it without hesitation.

Such a great stay! We came down for a family trip to Lego Land but wanted to stay in SD vs. Carlsbad. Our two queen room had an amazing view of the USS Midway which blew away our two boys. Great amount of space for a family of four. Overall, the hotel was clean, quiet, staff were all friendly and helpful, and valet was quick. Our star of the show was Kirk, who was our bellman. We ran into him all over the hotel and he was always happy to hear whatever tales of adventures my kids had that day. He was hospitality through and through.

We stayed here for a family trip over Thanksgiving Day. Maria at the front desk was incredibly kind and impressed us with her outstanding service. She kept smiling the entire time and was very helpful with anything we needed. Our room had a city view, but we could partially see the ocean as well. The room was spotless and very comfortable, with excellent bedding and mattresses. Amenities and bathrobes were promptly delivered, and everything was of the highest quality. Although it was too cold for us to swim, the pool water was warm enough to be inviting, and the sunset view from the pool area was breathtaking. We spent a long time sitting and enjoying the sunset. The fitness center also offered a great experience, allowing us to work out while enjoying ocean views. While we didn’t dine at the hotel, its location was fantastic, within walking distance of Little Italy and the Gaslamp Quarter, where we found many great dining options. One thing that stood out was how safe the downtown area felt, unlike LA or SF. Even walking around late at night, we didn’t feel unsafe. Additionally, the parking area was spacious and made self-parking very convenient. There were just two minor drawbacks. First, the room’s TV couldn’t connect to YouTube or Netflix, which was a bit disappointing, although the strong internet connection made up for it. Second, the shower water was very hot and difficult to adjust at first, which caused some trouble, though it could have just been user error. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. If we have the chance to visit San Diego again, we’d love to stay here once more.
