I stayed at the Royal Grand Sonesta-Chicago Downtown from Feb 8-March 4. This trip was a combination of leisure and business. First, the customer service experience from Satara and Ian was impeccable. Satara was very impressive and business minded. She listened to my concerns about my reservation and handled the matter immediately also she vibrantly described what the hotel had to offer. The room was very well appointed and spacious with great work area. The bed was heavenly, I enjoyed 4 nights of well deserved sleep and much needed relaxation. Housekeeping was indescribable. The room was immaculate during my entire stay. Location-hotel location is centrally located by various resturants and shops. Nice area to walk from the south to the north end. Overall, the Royal Sonesta I would rate "5 stars" and would stay again. Almost forgot to mention Hoyt, the restaurant in the hotel has great tasting food and large portions. Breakfast plates and the steak meal were delicious. If ever in the area consider this hotel, you want regret.

Royal Sonesta Downtown is absolutely breathtaking. Extremely convenient location, beautiful and clean rooms, and amazing views from our room (pictured), all for a very reasonable price! What really set Royal Sonesta apart from other hotels was the awesome service. Lucas, the bell man/greeter was extremely welcoming and kind. He gave us all sorts of recommendations and tips for our trip in Chicago. He became a highlight of our trip with how great he was! The front desk was also very kind and helpful.

I had an amazing stay at the Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown! From the moment I arrived, the service was outstanding. The front desk staff was exceptional—friendly, professional, and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure a great experience. A special shoutout to Lucas, the greeter at the front of the hotel. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always there to help. He assisted with our luggage and made sure we had everything we needed upon arrival. If you ever stay here, make sure to ask for Lucas if you need anything—especially recommendations on where to go in Chicago. He definitely knew his stuff and gave us great suggestions! His hospitality truly stood out, and he deserves a raise for the level of service he provides. The hotel itself is in a perfect location, with stunning views and well-maintained rooms. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely be back!

It’s has been amazing experience. I could not have asked for a better location than this one, everyone is at walking distance and the surroundings are pleasant. The hotel staff has been friendly, specially Luca, he has made sure our stay at the hotel has been extraordinary, he has gone above and beyond for us. The next time, if I am not staying at the Royal Sonesta, I am not going to Chicago.

Lots of better hotels in town with better service. This was a frustrating stay to say the least. Breakfast. NO Parking. NO Opening Windows. NO Connecting rooms. NO Pool. NO Hot Tub. NO Microwave. NO Want to book a month early to get a great view of the city, NO! Want to stay an extra day? Sure! Just pay for a second deposit, without the first refunded, awesome! Coffee creamer? NO - Full refusal at 6am unless they had someone bring it to the room, my wife was sleeping so I asked at front desk to deliver it there, nope… (even though two days earlier it wasn’t an issue and it was to the drawer directly to the right of the front counter had a big pile) so no morning coffee for me… There are 0 amenities, no pool, no hot tub, no breakfast, nothing, you’re on your own. No where to have a smoke, want a smoke? Cool, just go across the street and sit on the concrete??? Want a meeting room, even though they are 100% empty? NOPE, need to request a call from the sales team, have them call you, and then try to charge you for a 1 hour meeting… Want to tip the doorman but only have $50’s, NOPE, no change given at the front counter, they need a “manager override”. Want to check in early, sure they will tell you that’s no problem, then make you wait an additional 6 hours until the actual checkin time, even though the hotel is almost empty… The doormen are great, the young shorter guy at the front counter is great. Overall, just go to a better hotel for the same or less cash.

Positives|Staff - The staff was really accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay super welcoming. We arrived at 5AM and they were able to accommodate early check in (with a fee) but we were so grateful. Housekeeping was particularly pleasant and even left a little stocking for us on Christmas Eve! Also, I thought I had left something behind and they even called to follow up – like really, above and beyond. |Location – Location is great. It’s right by the river and the views are pretty amazing, particularly in the evening with all the lights. Also, it’s downtown so walking distance to a lot of shops, restaurants, tourist spots, etc. |Vibes – I loved all the décor. The room itself was large and spacious, but the overall aesthetic was modern and pleasant. ||Negatives |Thin Walls – The walls are thin. I could hear my neighbors every morning – we’re talking full on conversations and giggles from kiddos. This was a little funny but mostly disappointing. |Obstructed Views – We paid extra for views, and they were beautiful; however, you had to stand to see since it was half wall half window. If it were fully glass, we’d be able to sit and see the view – this just feels like a miss opportunity/design flaw. I also noticed that neighboring hotels had floor to ceiling windows which would mean no view obstruction. ||Overall, our stay was pleasant.

Wonderful Stay with Stunning Views I stayed at this hotel during Thanksgiving and had an excellent experience. The location is perfect—right in front of the Chicago Riverwalk and Trump Tower, offering breathtaking views. The front desk staff was very helpful and gave me a room with the best view. The service was exceptional; my room was cleaned daily, towels were changed, and supplies were restocked regularly. The food and coffee were great, and the room was spotless, cozy, and ideal for a couple, though I stayed solo. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely choose this hotel again in the future

Nice spacious rooms, clean and quiet, although I would recommend rooms further from the elevator. Not because of the elevator itself, but the bell ringing when the elevator door open is rather loud. Location is excellent. Staff is friendly, but I'd personally would have appreciated a bit more help when asking if we could change clothes before going to the airport (after having checked out)
