The Midland is a lovely historic hotel in the loop. We walked to everything we wanted to visit. It has a lovely boutique feel and the staff is friendly and warm. We read so many of the reviews before our stay and I can confidently say that none of the other issues in the other reviews were present during our stay. The rooms are clean and large and updated. We did have to work with the heat a bit, but no issues with that. Their breakfasts are amazing and the service was very friendly. We ate at the bar one night to watch some play off football and the bartenders were attentive and fun. The staff interacts with each other like they are family and not surprised as we found the tenure of staff to be 20 plus years in some cases. I would recommend a stay at the Midland.

Platinum Marriott member here. One of the worst properties. The rooms are extremely old and worn. Very empty. When I arrived, the room floors was blowing cold air from outside. The worst part is, the hot water from the shower takes at least 10 minutes to arrive. Bathroom sink never got hot water. You will hear the train at night. Maintenance “fixed it” on the first night but no difference the 2nd night For the price you pay, it is not acceptable. There are many much better properties nearby or west loop, especially with the other chains.

The water pressure in the shower is abysmal. Everything else including not great noise isolation from the street can be forgiven. The room looks like it's setup for user-friendly AV with an HDMI input built into the wall, but none of it works.

The close proximity to the opera house was not worth staying at this incredibly average " upscale" hotel. The cleanliness was below average and the room furnishings were not what you'd expect at this high price point. Making matters worse we were charged $300 for leaving at 8 p.m and not checking out in the morning. Although I called first to explain the situation and was assured there was no charge. I would NOT recommend this property when the j.w. Marriott across the street is far superior

I was “upgraded” to a fantastic level “suite”. I’m a titanium member with Marriott so I was excited to see the suite. It was horrible. The walls were not decorated - all white. The carpet was worn so bad it bunched in several areas causing me to trip. The water pressure in the shower was AWFUL. I mean the worst. I have been overseas in the Philippines at a Marriott property and the water pressure was better. I complained to the front desk and she didn’t seem bothered at all. I couldn’t finish my shower it was so bad. I booked another hotel and I said this to the front desk and she didn’t seem to care. Again I have the second highest status with Marriott one can have. There were reports of theft but we didn’t encounter that here thankfully. The room description also stated 1.5 bathrooms which our “suite” didn’t have. I doubt this was an actual suite and if it was I shudder to think what the standard rooms were like. It was severely dated and lacked the W feel entirely. This was probably my most disappointing stay at a Marriott brand ever. I checked into the Hyatt instead and for a standard room it is infinitely better. Which was surprising. Marriott - do better.

This is the Temu of W hotels. The lobby is nice but it stops there. The rooms feel cheap and like you are in a hospital with all muddy white everywhere, very dated! The carpet is bunching up and the wallpaper peeling. This place is probably the worst W I have stayed at! I should have read reviews. WAY overpriced! The bar service was great, but the the menu lacks sophistication and is expensive, we ordered the cheese board and the cubes were huge and the cheese was dry. A gin and soda was $16. This is not great Marriott!

It is and always have been one of my most favourite hotels, spots in town. Love their rooms, facilities, hotel grounds, and even their bar and breakfast. I've taken the liberty taking a few photos and attached those. A great stay starts with a warm welcome upon arrival and a friendly smile. Will definitely book again.

We had the most amazing experience for a night at the W Chicago in City Center. Long story short when it comes to their service. It is one of the best I've experienced and I travel a lot. At least 2-3 time a month. But this is to show my appreciation for 2 young ladies. Both Quanisha and Letisha were absolutely amazing. Truly I desire to stay at the W next time I'm back in downtown Chicago simply because of their service. This hotel staff makes it a point to look out for their customers to ensure the best experience possible. If even for a night. And it doesn't hurt that the rooms are nothing less than spectacular👌🏾. I look forward to being back, thank you🙏🏾.
