PSA DO NOT STAY AT ECONO LODGE IN RC SD!!!|03/29/25|My kids and I, my friend and her kids just had a horrible experience!! For starters my friend purchased a room for the night and nothing was working properly in there so she asked for a new room and of course she had to the pay the difference which is fine. Well my kids and I went to visit her and her kids today and decided to all swim together. I informed the front desk the key card for the door wasn’t working properly and asked for a new one for her. The woman told me to hold on and got another staff member which I’m assuming was her husband. He came out and was extremely rude right off the jump. He told me we are not allowed to be there unless we’re paying guests, and that my friend who is a paying guest is not allowed to have any guests over and they are also not allowed to use the pool. Which is understandable and we tried to apologize because we didn’t know of this rule ahead of time because most hotels in rapid let family/friends come and swim when one person is already paying for the room. He became irate and pointed in my face saying we knew the rules and me and my kids needed to get out now and leave immediately. I said okay well we need to change so we can leave. He told me we were not allowed to retrieve our items from our friends room and to just leave immediately. I told him my kids are not walking outside in the cold weather in wet clothes! He informed me they would give me a new clean room to change in but I could not use my friends room which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He then pointed at my friend and said since she broke the rules she and her kids needed to leave immediately as well, while making comments that her room is a mess, even tho they just upgraded from their previous room this morning! Her room was not a mess! My friends went to grab our items from her room and he came up and said well just go change in her room then leave. I have never in my life had anyone ever treated me this way at a business and especially with children present. This whole situation was uncalled for and my friend and I were being polite and calm the entire interaction, the manager as he called himself was rude, irate, and aggressive. I am just floored by the lack of costumer service, professionalism and empathy as a person. I am truly disgusted with Econo Lodge hotel and management in rapid city SD!!!! Save your money and sanity, stay somewhere else!!

Friendly staff. Stayed only one night. Got about what I expected for the price. Bonus was I got to park next to our door, so loading and unloading was super easy! The TVs were a bit dated, but worked. Speakers were blown on it. The room was clean (the bed and sheet were clean and the mattress was sealed in a protective waterproof layer). The shower was very hot and lasted for two full showers back to back. The heater worked fine. The pool was open. Nice big area for breakfast. The parking lot was lit up very well and clean. Lobby had a public computer available and was nice and clean. Ice machine worked. Overall it was a nice experience. The only reason it got 4 stars was because the TV wasn't in the greatest condition, looked like the room had holes repaired in the walls and was never repainted, one of the lamps was broke, and the ice machine was on the other side of the building. There was an empty room next door some disrespectful guests had trashed and left an utter mess. The staff had cleaned it up and ready to go in a timely manner and did an amazing job at it!

Rundown, dirty, very outdated motel. Toilet paper roll had gotten wet, about half was ruined, and still someone put it on the holder. Inside hall key cards did not work and could not be fixed. Only entrance was thru outside door. Breakfast was far below expectation with waffles, cold cereal, store-bought muffins the only real options. We stayed there in 2017, and it was bad then. Only returned because our son and family had already made a reservation. Hoped it might be better, but it was not. They had to change stained sheets in our son's room. Gross. Would not recommend at any price.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star. At check in there was a woman at the desk asking for her money back because of the state of her room. When we got to our room the door was wide open, window open, garbage in the bags. One bed was not fully made. There were bags of garbage laying in the hall. We found a BED bug crawling on one of the beds and a dead one in the other bed. I was asked to go up to the room with the manager. I refused as I was not going back in to that room. She went to the room by herself and upon her return claimed she didn’t see anything. The room where the breakfast was had water pouring down from the ceiling. I was refused a refund.

Save your money & time! Came for funeral, called ahead asking if hot tub was working, they said yes. We get there next day, hot tub is COLD. No one enjoying that temp! Also asked before I came to have additional roll out cot. I was assured of both. When arrived to hotel, inquired about my 2 requests. When they could not deliver I told them I want a refund and will be going elsewhere. Manger talked to his boss and gave me an additional room, a room with jetted tub. The room with jetted tub only had 1 bed & we have two teen boys. It was SO cold in tub room he said he would go to Walmart and buy me a heater to use. He said we could have additional tub room for no additional cost “if you give me a good review.” Next morning was SO cold in tub room I asked for extra heater. I had to ask 5 different times. Around 6 hrs later, my husband went to the desk and talked to the manager. The manager said “I will not talk to you. I will only talk to your wife” 15 minutes later he came to my door… “You said you were going to leave me a good review“ I told him I would leave a review after our stay. He said no you leave me a review now or you will not get your heater. And then he told me that he was going to charge me for, the second room. I told him I was not going to discuss this with him right now, we literally buried my Father-in-law that same day. If you want poor service, marijuana smells, wafting through the halls, a cold room, unusable amenities, and bribes for good reviews—stay here!

As soon as I walked in the front door, there were 2 different families trying to check out. One family tried 3 different rooms before checking out because none were clean. The second family also had problems with the cleanliness of their room. After I checked in, the guy from the front desk came up to my room to ask if the room was okay. I thought he was just being nice until later that night. I returned to the hotel after a Halloween party. He came up to my room and asked to take a picture of me. It wasn’t that great of a costume, and I felt very uncomfortable about the whole thing. I used the deadbolt that night, but I really don’t think the deadbolt does much with that door. I have the room for another night, but you can be sure I’m checking out today. That night, I kept finding cockroaches. By the state of the room, I’m not surprised. Most surfaces look like they haven’t been wiped in a while. The bedding had crumbs and hair from previous guests. I checked for bed bugs and fortunately did not find any. The mini fridge is broken and leaking. By the look of the buildup, it’s been broken a while. I tried to take a shower, but the water was so cold, I didn’t even want to do a sponge bath. I waited and waited for it to warm up, but it never did. Overall, it’s a really cheap place. If you’re okay with dirt, mold, and cockroaches, it might not be a bad option for the price. Make sure you check your bed for bed bugs, and don’t expect a hot shower.

Room was clean. Bathroom too. Property is old but the employees they r amazing always try to help guests. Even us . Kids enjoyed a lot in pool. Breakfast attended was nice. Housekeeping guys are all nice and specially female manager said that they are trying to upgrade the hotel. I was 2 nights there it was comfortable for us within budget.

This was our drawer when we checked in. We had a two night stay and asked for clean towels and one staff member told us no.. we asked another staff member who did give us some. Do not stay here!! Not worth it.
