This is an older hotel, but the staff are doing their absolute best. The room was clean, and made up every day. Yes, the bathroom fixtures had signs of age, but no amount of cleaning is going to fix that. I think they’re putting their money where it matters most: comfy beds and linens. It was also one of the quietest stays I’ve had in a hotel in a long time. Good marks for that! The main negative is billing. I was traveling for work and had to change my trip plans last-minute. There was very little flexibility. And it took an age for adjustments to be completed and a final receipt to be issued. I generally stay with big hotel chains which, I guess, give their front desk staff more latitude to make adjustments themselves. I would stay here again, but only if my travel plans were less fluid. With that caveat, I did definitely recommend this hotel to my colleagues who were all paying a lot more for a less convenient stay.

Tips for the owner: if you want to talk bad about your PAYING customers, maybe do it in private. Also, an apology goes a long way in business, even if you don’t mean it. Lastly, BE TRANSPARENT ABOUT THE COST. Here is the definition of the word “total”, according to the dictionary: “comprising the whole number or amount.” Hope this helps. The “Total Stay” was $207, but I was charged $227. I decided to ask about the charge when I checked in, thinking it was just a mistake. I was totally willing to accept the fee if it were my mistake, but the owner was IMMEDIATELY hostile toward me. Just for asking. I was told a $10 per day “destination fee” was listed in the hotel policies. It wasn’t listed in the policies, but underneath it at the very bottom of the page. I was willing to accept that and move on (even though it’s shady and unethical to not include it in the “TOTAL stay” price and to intentionally hide it on the bottom of the page), but the owner kept asking me if I wanted a refund to stay somewhere else. This confused me, but I ignored it and said it was fine, I would stay. Then she sits at her computer mumbling under her breath that I was the FOURTH person THAT DAY to ask about this charge. She said “if people could read…” in an incredibly snarky tone. I told her that if I am the 4th person (IN ONE DAY) who had to ask about this charge, then maybe instead of insulting their customers… they should be more transparent about what the charges are. She got very upset with me for what I believe is a very reasonable and common sense suggestion. We talked to other people at the hotel and they also claimed she was very rude to them. In the end, we received a refund and left because I felt sick to my stomach rewarding this gross behavior with money.

The front lady was very rude. When i tried to check in, she refused to check me in due to i was checking my 81 year old grandma in. Then proceeded to yell and give me attitude. Very self centered, rude, evil and plain bitchy. I do not recommend this hotel. The prices are not even what they claimed they are.

The room 132 was a pet room. I don't even like pets? Carpet was stained. Everything else was okay. I liked it that I had a window that opened in room for fresh air, view of homes and mountains. Man working at front desk at 5 p.m. check-in, and he was very nice. Man working at 6:00 a.m. shift told me off, and said that to stay another night was $169.00 w/tax? Not TRUE. Woman at 11:00 a.m. shift somewhat rude. ( $98. W/Tax.) I am from state of Massachusetts traveling.

They charged us a 10 dollar fee even though our reservation included all fees. They refused to reimburse us saying that they had to. The guy in the evening shift offered us an upgrade for free but also charged us for it. We got a reimbursement for that but only after we asked for a receipt and saw it. The lady on the front desk that morning said that she would give us the receipt even though she was not supposed to. Weird enough since ten minutes earlier, while we were having breakfast in front of the front desk, another guest said they were checking out and the employee in the front desk asked them if they wanted the receipt. Furthermore, the guy in the evening shift asked us to talk to someone "more experienced" in the morning because he did not know why he had to charge us that 10 dollar fee. It is a shame since the hotel has great potential but the staff left us a bad memory of the place.

This place was absolutely fantastic, Pam (and parker) on the front desk at check-in were really sweet and friendly and immediately resolved any issue we had. The rooms were huge and had impressive furniture in it for the cost of the room. They were clean too as was the linen and towels. There's also board games in the hall you can play, which was a nice bonus as my partner and I do enjoy a board game. The area I'd quiet but close to food and garages if needed later at night. The ONLY thing I'd criticise is that the morning staffs energy definitely didn't match Pams, which is probably more a credit to her than a criticism of them. Would 100% stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Foothills Inn, it was central to almost everything in Rapid City, close to many great restaurants. The rooms were clean and spacious and very comfortable, nice sized refrigerator and microwave. The pool was very nice. Also, had adequate tables and even a barbecue grill. We will definitely be back.

While the location is good, the service is terrible. The room was clean, but dated. Breakfast was lacking. No seating for families. As far as the customer service, I booked my room online and paid through the booking app. When I arrived, they asked for a deposit for the room. Ok. I travel a lot and this is very custom to do. However, they refused to release the funds back to my bank. I’ve never had a hotel need more than 24 hours to release the funds. They claim they need 2 weeks or more. When I demanded to know why, because they know the day of check out if there is an issue with the room, the lady become verbally abusive and hung up on me. Now, I am disputing the transaction with my bank as fraud. I would not recommend staying here.
