NillGreat location! Pleasant staff. Our room overlooked the seawall. We had a balcony and enjoyed the sumset. Walked for dinner. Chilly, it's January ! Went to the pool bar and enjoyed the fire pit! Returned to room for a great shower! I'm definitely coming back. Clean rooms

★★★★★Pros: |Great view from the balcony of the Gulf, the Pleasure Pier, and the historic architecture surrounding the seawall.|Directly next door to Miller's Seawall Grill for a fantastic and affordable breakfast. |Very little traffic compared to further down the seawall, so nights and early mornings on the balcony were peaceful. The door blocked all sound from outside and the street|Nice pool with a swim-up bar. The bar was a bit pricey, but that's to be expected for a resort, and it was worth it to be able to wade up to the bar in between tanning in the lounge chairs. The pool is NOT heated, but we visited in the first week of October, and the weather was still warm enough to swim during midday. We saw several small children braving the water even after dark. |Very nice staff. As many other reviews mentioned, you will see the same friendly folks throughout your trip, and everyone seemed content working for the hotel and were good at their jobs. ||One con: Yes, the main elevator is out of order. This was never a problem for us, but the service elevator IS small, and on the morning of our check out there was a traffic jam for the elevator as everyone was trying to check out at the same time. I hope Hilton sees these reviews and helps this hotel fix the elevator to create a truly 5-star experience at this hidden gem.

NillWe really enjoyed our stay. The staff was fantastic. Will is one of the most professional, polite, and hard working hotel representatives we've met on our extensive travels. He was super helpful and fantastic. The bed and pillows are amazing. Sleeping in hotels is hit or miss but here it was a huge hit. The last time I felt a bed this comfortable, I figured out the brand and bought one for home. The pillows are nice and heavy and our sleep was awesome. The shower? Wow. Good pressure with a great shower head. Overall, can't say enough about the staff and the rooms. Not as fancy as some but it was perfect for us and the friendliness of the staff made it all great!

★★★Short stopover night before as we were headed to a cruise. ||Staff was friendly, place was clean and safe. Rooms had been updated but they are already showing signs of being tired. ||Didn’t have the breakfast or use pool but both seemed nice. ||Had breakfast at mosquito cafe down the street which is a short walk through the beautiful historic residential neighborhood. See my review for details. ||Would come back.

★This Hotel does not meet the High Standards of being a Double Tree by Hilton Hotel. My current experience was not one I would have liked to have experienced. I experienced the following: The appearance is nothing like what is seen on the website. When you walk through the doors the smell is overwhelming. The price per night is overstated and overrated based upon the appearance of the rooms. I was moved from the 3rd floor to the 2nd floor due to the appearance of the "Beach Front Room." The price of the rooms are over price and the name of the room did not reflect the quality nor appearance of the actual room. I personally disinfected and cleaned both rooms. The carpet was old and stained. The rooms smelled old.|| Attending a family reunion and having other family members staying at the hotel whom my 84-year-old aunt, my husband and cousin were stuck in the elevator for about 20 minutes. Me and my family members were told we would get a $30 food credit ($15 food credit per day, per person for each person in the room) by Emmanuel at the front desk. What was told to us was not the case. I was personally called a "liar" by Emmanuel who disrespected me as an adult and as a customer of the hotel. Vonnie also a part-time employee asked Emmanuel to hold it down, but she would not get the Manager after I requested her to. || If I had known I would be disrespected and treated in this manner before I booked the rooms I would not have booked the hotel for a family reunion. ||My request to have one night reimbursed for my experiences and to have the food charges removed from my credit card have not been honored by Management.

★★★★★Staff are wonderful.. All Front Desk staff are great Housekeeper on our floor was great! The view is awesome the pool was welcoming. The manager Jo cares so much about the staff and guest. I sat in the lobby and watched her with the staff at the desk and you can see they are important to her. Then she handled each guest as they were the most important person in the room. We will be back in a few weeks.

NillThe rooms need updating, old carpet with stains, had to wear socks. Bed was fine, pillows were old and no cushion. Chair in room was stained, no way someone sits in that chair! Employees at the front desk don’t have uniforms nor shirts that stated they work here. The main elevator is not working. This is not up to double tree standard at all. We will choose another hotel before staying here again. The pool/bar is great, always has been. The bartender (forget her name) was great! Great drinks. Over all, just a 2 star hotel.

NillDO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS LOCATION IS ALL YOU CARE ABOUT. Rooms were nasty. The pictures shown on their website are either old or specific rooms they upkeep for marketing purposes. We stayed on the 4th floor. It smelled like they had a serious mold/mildew problem in both the hallway and room. Base boards on the walls were missing. The carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. We arrived late at night as we were leaving on a cruise in the morning. I went to the front desk after we checked into our room and asked if they had other rooms available on a different floor. They had one room available on the third floor. I got a key and went into the room. Smell and condition of the room was just as bad. The day after our stay here we got on our cruise in Galveston. The smell of the room was so bad that it seeped into our clothes in our suitcase. The closet we used in our cruise stateroom to store our clothes reeked of the mold/mildew smell that was in our room. Extremely disappointed and quite frankly just plain disgusting.
