The fireplace during a very wintery weekend was such a treat. It was a quiet weekend although there were other guests there. You really felt like the space was there for you with all the different sitting areas. The fireplaces in the common spaces made the cold winter morning feel cozy.

We stayed at the LaFollette Room (#201) at this B&B for one night while visiting our son who lives in an apartment nearby. We loved the historic feel of the inn and felt like we were stepping back in time. It was interesting to read about the history of the mansion and enjoyed all the historically accurate details. The room was well-appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We had no problem with the contactless check-in and were not expecting to be greeted by a live person. We did not spend a lot of time at the B&B, as we were in town for one night to see our son. It was super convenient to have parking provided, as we left the car and walked around the corner to our son's apartment and then went on to dinner near the Capitol. It's a beautiful area and we hope to return to the Governor's Mansion Inn! The only real negative was that the water pressure in the shower was very minimal. Hopefully this will be addressed ASAP. It wasn't a deal-breaker though, and we would book another stay.

This is a beautiful and well maintained historical home! The Mansion Hill district leaves much to Marvel at. The scones were to die for! and yet I was left with a little disappointment that maybe mostly my fault. It was a little confusing booking because you weren't exactly sure what the room you were booking looked like. The one that I picked said Premium Queen so I mistakenly thought it would have been one with a fireplace and maybe a better view of the lake. Also, the queen bed seemed a bit on the smaller side.

Historic mansion, now bed & breakfast. The room and bathroom were larger than expected for a building of this age, with a very comfortable bed and other accommodations. There is free parking as well as coffee and scones in the morning. There is a beautiful lake view from the property. Check-in and check-out are contactless. We were given the door codes a day before our arrival, and we had no issues with this process. Some things to keep in mind since it’s a dwelling built in the mid-1800’s: most rooms are on the 2nd floor and can only be reached with a flight of stairs, and since it was originally a home, noise carries. Neither of these were a problem for us, but just something to note. I can’t believe the quality, location, and value of this B&B’s accommodations compared to other generic chain hotels in the area. We enjoyed our first stay here, and I would definitely consider coming back the next time I’m in Madison.

So charming, and I really enjoyed staying in a house with such historical significance! Everything was electronic, thought-email communication, programmable keypads on every door. So I never saw an employee.

Two gentlemen have done a great job with this place. They have made this mansion into a public space that is beautiful. Two thoughts- room 109 is drafty, ask for the heat to go on before you arrive and bring spring water to drink. Tap water is undrinkable.

We searched for bed and breakfast locations in Madison, Wisconsin and this fits the description. It is not what my wife and I are accustomed to when thinking of a B&B. The first floor reminds us of a museum with sparse furnishings and art displayed. The building has been modified to modern day standards while retaining the original look as much as possible. |The part that did not fit our plans was that no one was there to greet the guests. We received an email with a code to unlock the outside door and our room door. The next morning they did provide coffee and scones, but I don't consider that a real breakfast. We also didn't see the other guests and in other B&B's we have enjoyed getting to know people that are traveling and sharing past experiences.|If you want to enter an empty building with out being seen or seeing other people and stay in a museum setting, this might be just the right place for you.|If you enjoy getting to know a husband and wife that take pride in sharing their home with guests, this is not the right place for you.

Such a cute, clean, & prime location spot! Left an item behind & David was so accommodating in returning it to me. Would definitely stay again!
